Man, this hasn't aged well at all
Saw this again for the first time since 1983. I'm struck by how dated it feels. The hairstyles on the women are very Reagan-80s, all blow dried. The men don't fare much better. It's now a period piece. This was so big when it came out, and acquired a certain cache after awhile. But the soundtrack, innovative in its day, is very tired now, compared with all the copycats that have followed. I recently visited Beaufort, S.C., where this was filmed. They are still dining on it there, almost 30 years later. Watchable, but only to see how badly it's aged.

TAKE THE TRIP
French toast, anyone? I wasn't expecting much when I pulled this from the bargain bin, and later threw it on the dvd player as I was packing some stuff. Pretty soon though I found it hard not to pay attention. After a few of the gut busting laughs this movie put me through, I was pretty much along for the ride with Road Trip! Something like American Pie in it's humor.. Really, there are too many scenes that are just hilarious - it's not high art - it's just good ole fashioned coarse teen humor - some really funny #*&$! in this movie.

Dr Carnage and Max Assassin. Everybody's favourite cartoon characters! (Wonderful weirdness rules!)
Possibly one of the most bizarre horror movies out there. Worth seeing for novelty value alone.
Two sisters get bothered by a creepy cartoon video, sent by the devil, no less. (Of course no-one knows it comes from the devil at this stage).
One sister loves it so much she inadvertently releases the characters from it into real life, so we get to see Dr. Carnage and Max Assassin (!) on a fun-filled, murderous rampage amongst the ranks of the silly sisters and their friends, boyfriends, whoever, it doesn't really matter, no-one is going to seriously care about any of the characters in this movie, it is just throwaway fun. The region 1 dvd cover is so crazy, I just love it!
I see there is also a "Terror Toons 2" out! A murderous Hansel and Gretel. Have to see that too! LOL. (Though the dvd cover for that is not as fiendishly freaky as this one. This rules for effective cover art!).

Made Me Laugh
Ordered this not knowing what we were going to get, but it's a surprisingly funny, funny little video (not so much spooky), featuring "Shockenbull," a very strange TV host who hallucinates rodents running around his house. Several comedy sketches are sprinkled among the Shockenbull story. Hysterical parody of mac vs. pc ad, and a safe sex lecture to make you rofl. At 50 minutes, it runs a little short, but well worth the price. Our college kid will be playing this for his friends on Halloween night.
